Honai Beez Apiary

Honai Beez Apiary is a social enterprise start-up which is utilizing beekeeping to combat climate change by transforming open space and vacant lots into green spaces and apiaries in urban and rural spaces for the conservation of honeybees, to help create awareness for pollinators through the education our local communities and youth about bees and their contribution to our environment. Honai Beez Apiary is exploring the utilization of Computer Numeric Routers (CNC) and Bamboo as a climate smart material to create Topbar and Warre Beehive. Utilizing bamboo will aid in the reduction of the consumptions of timber resources and retain our carbon sinks and native trees in an efforts to combat climate change.

Key objective

Urban Beehive and Pollination Project: Cultivating New Beekeepers, Protecting Our Planet Through Sustainable Practices
The Urban Beehive and Pollination Project tackles declining bee populations by empowering aspiring beekeepers with sustainable practices. This innovative program equips participants with the skills and tools to thrive in apiculture, all while contributing to a greener future.

More Than Honey: The Buzz About Beekeeping
Honeybees are vital for a healthy ecosystem, ensuring the pollination of plants critical for food security and biodiversity. However, climate change and unsustainable practices threaten these essential insects. The Urban Beehive and Pollination Project addresses these challenges.

Cultivating Knowledge, Crafting Sustainability
The project offers a unique apprenticeship program that fosters responsible beekeeping:

Beekeeping Fundamentals: Participants gain comprehensive training in natural beekeeping methods, preparing them to become successful beekeepers.

Sustainable Solutions: The program utilises innovative CNC-Router technology to create beehives from bamboo, a more eco-friendly alternative to traditional materials.

Urban Oasis: The project promotes the creation of green spaces and urban apiaries, fostering healthy bee populations within cityscapes.

By combining beekeeping knowledge with sustainable practices, the Urban Beehive and Pollination Project cultivates a new generation of beekeepers who can protect our planet’s vital pollinators.
